Citrix Systems recently announced that its XenServer product has been deemed a leader in the Info-Tech Research Group's Vendor Landscape.
The XenServer has been identified as a major aspect of Citrix's cloud computing and virtualization vision.
In its report, called Select the Right Vendor for Server Virtualization; Enable Server Efficiency and Cost Savings from Consolidation to Internal Cloud, Info-Tech called the XenServer a "champion" in the upper quadrant. According to Info-Tech, those in the Champion quadrant are industry leaders that provide great value and have a strong market presence.
"Citrix provides the most comprehensive all-around solution for the price," said John Sloan, lead research analyst at Info-Tech.
Sloan also said that Citrix and Microsoft have managed to close the gap VMware once held in the virtualization market.
Virtualization solutions are expected to play a key role for companies moving forward. According to a study by Infonetics Research, companies plan to spend 51 percent more on security for virtualized environments in 2012 than in 2010. The main reasons for the increased spending is to prevent new and inter-virtual machine threats and to maintain secure configurations.
