Businesses that adopt the combined desktop virtualization solution from Citrix and Cisco can reduce their costs and improve the overall efficiency of their IT solutions, vice presidents from both companies recently asserted.
In a question-and-answer session, Citrix vice president Sumit Dhawan and Cisco vice president of enterprise architecture and systems Phil Sherburne agreed their partnership is helping businesses deploy enterprise-wide desktop virtualization initiatives.
Launched in September last year, the combined Cisco Desktop Virtualization Solution and Citrix XenDesktop includes features from both products, enabling companies to access cost-effective, scalable and high-performing virtual desktop solutions. The solution includes an open architecture, pre-configured templates and can be deployed quickly across enterprise desktops, Dhawan claims.
"Some of our largest customers have been asking us to work together more closely to help them adopt desktop virtualization enterprise wide," the executives said. "Our respective technologies are incredibly aligned and will help our customers achieve their objective to transform desktop computing."
In addition to its partnership with Cisco, Citrix is currently working with mobile device manufacturers to expand its presence in the mobile market. In a recent interview with CRN, Citrix vice president of worldwide channel and sales strategy Tom Flink said his company is aiming to be available on "every device that people will want to use."
